The Lugger Inn is situated just outside of weymouth. For information on some of the surrounding towns please vist www.resort–guide.co.uk. Information on the village of Chickerell can be found at the village website.

Dorset′s spectacular coastline makes up part of England′s first natural world Heritage site, The Jurassic Coast line.

Chickerell was originally a fishing village with connections to the Fleet and Moonfleet, famous for its little church where Blackbeard supposedly buried his treasures. Chickerell is now a commuter area convenient for both Weymouth and the Roman town of Dorchester. It has a strong village community and plenty of local activities including its own carnival, Dorset league football club, horse riding stables and youth club to name but a few.

Nearby Weymouth is a busy summer holiday resort catering for all types of visitors. Further on can be found the Isle of Portland famous for its stone (once used to build St Paul′s Cathedral among many of the other famous buildings throughout the country).

To the west there are many picturesque villages the prettiest of which is probably Abbotsbury with its swanery, Tythe Barn and sub tropical gardens. The towns Chesil beach runs from Portland 18 miles west along the coast towards Bridport. Access between Portland and Abbotsbury can only be gained by crossing the Fleet (a stretch of tidal water home to many types of birds and sea life).

Inland can be found the historic town of Dorchester famous for its Roman connections and of course the birth place of Thomas Hardy, the famous writer.
